Jai – TOM MITCHELL WILL FIRE AGAINST THE SWANS

Since moving to Hawthorn from the Swans, Mitchell has averaged nearly 36 possessions a game. Against his old team, by his standards, he has been positively quiet with just 25 touches a game. Expect that to change this weekend with Mitchell set to fire against the men from the Harbour City.

Sudi – SHOWDOWN WILL BE ANOTHER THRILLER

One of the fiercest rivalries in the AFL, the two Adelaide teams regularly throw up nail-biting spectacles. Five of the last showdowns have been decided by less than four goals with the matches turning into last man standing affairs. This one will be no different, expect Showdown 44 to go right down to the wire.

Boz – BULLDOGS WILL ONLY SQUEAK PAST THE LIONS

The Bulldogs enter their match up with the Lions short priced favourites to get the four premiership points. This indicates a larger distance between the sides than exists, despite winning the premiership only two seasons ago the Bulldogs aren’t travelling that much better than the last placed Lions. That said they are going better than their opponents, and just like their last start victory over the Suns, expect the Bulldogs to get the job done but they will be pushed all the way.

MOST AT STAKE

Jai – THE SAINTS

Quite simply if St Kilda want to have any chance of being competitive in season 2018 they must win against the Dockers. Another defeat consigns them not only to another season without finals but most likely a battle to stave off a bottom four finish.

Sudi – CARLTON

The Blues have been understrength for much of the season, going into many matches without three of the top four from last years best and fairest but, against an Essendon side with their own issues, they simply must show some real fight this week. Already having recorded the worst opening to a season by a Carlton team, they need to show heart and intent against a weakened rival.

Boz – THE GIANTS

Although the team from Sydney’s west sits fifth on the ladder, their recent form looks anything but that of a team touted as a premiership contender. They were embarrassed last week against the Cats and now host the high flying Eagles at home this week. With a couple of tricky away trips, against North Melbourne and Adelaide, to come in the next few weeks a defeat against the Eagles could put a serious early dent in their chances of a top four finish.
