It is that time again, footy finals – the most wonderful time of the year.
With two big sudden-death finals ahead this weekend, the Pinch Hitter team nominate:
- Who will win?
- The weekend’s sure thing
- Most at stake
- Doomsday scenario
WHO WILL WIN?
SURE THING
Ben: Tigers to dominate and confirm why they are premiership favourites.
Bozza: More than 95k will be in the house on Friday night and it will be an atmosphere that none of them will ever forget.
Jai: There are plenty of people hoping for an all Melbourne GF.
Jarrod: Tiges, will prove once more why we shouldn’t doubt them.
Joel: Tigers continue their MCG streak.
Josh: A raucous Optus Stadium crowd helping the Eagles get through.
Sudi: Richmond & Collingwood Prelim crowd to be bigger than the Grand Final.
Warrick: Tigers to overrun the Pies after trailing at quarter time.
MOST AT STAKE
Ben: Eagles, home final with all guns blazing – can’t afford to lose.
Bozza: Simon Goodwin. Big call at the selection table, he’d want to be right.
Jai: Richmond. Premiership favouritism weighs the heaviest in Prelim Final week.
Jarrod: Eagles, a home final against a Melbourne team for a spot in the Grand Final. They couldn’t have asked for more.
Joel: Eagles, they can’t afford to lose on home soil against a finals newbie.
Josh: Melbourne, a lot of fans have put off ski holidays so don’t disappoint them.
Sudi: Dees, after all the hype you’d hope they deliver.
Warrick: Eagles losing on their home deck to the fifth-placed side.
DOOMSDAY SCENARIO
Ben: Collingwood win. Nobody wants to see that.
Bozza: Injuries! While the ‘will he won’t he’ storyline is a staple of Grand Final week, we want both winners to get through as close to full strength as possible.
Jai: Razor Ray is the story again rather than the footy.
Jarrod: Collingwood winning. Simple as that.
Joel: Collingwood win and we have to put up with a week of Eddie overhype.
Josh: Richmond lose and waste a season.
Sudi: Richmond losing at the MCG.
Warrick: Pies beat the Tigers and the Yarra overflows with the tears of Tigers fans who had already counted on a three-peat of flags.
