CWC19 – World Cup Power Rankings After Week Three

Where do the teams sit on The Pinch Hitters Power Rankings after Week Three of the World Cup?

1. (1) ENGLAND

Made a statement with their victories over West Indies and Afghanistan, that they bat more explosively, deeper and longer than any team in the world.

LAST FIVE: SA (W), PAK (L), BANG (W), WI (W), AFG (W).

REMAINING FIXTURES: SL, AUS, IND, NZ.

2. (2) INDIA

Rain prevented a much anticipated encounter with New Zealand, while against Pakistan they reaffirmed their status as one of the teams to beat.

LAST FIVE: AUS (L), SA (W), AUS (W), NZ (NR), PAK (W).

NEXT FIVE: AFG, WI, ENG, BANG, SL.

3. (3) NEW ZEALAND

An undefeated start to the tournament sees the Black Caps on top of the World Cup standings and perhaps a little unlucky to be just third in our Power Rankings.

LAST FIVE: SL (W), BANG (W) AFG (W), IND (NR), SA (W).

REMAINING FIXTURES: WI, PAK, AUS, ENG.

4. (4) AUSTRALIA

They showed in victories over Pakistan and Sri Lanka that when their top order and bowling attack fires, they are as good as any team in the tournament.

LAST FIVE: AFG (W), WI (W), IND (L), PAK (W), SL (W).

REMAINING FIXTURES: BANG, ENG, NZ, SA.

5. (5) BANGLADESH

Surprised many pundits with their victory over the West Indies but perhaps that says more about the pundits than the Tigers. While the Top Four looks almost locked in, Bangladesh are the team most likely to crash the Semi Final party.

LAST FIVE: SA (W), NZ (L), ENG (L), SL (NR), WI (W).

REMAINING FIXTURES: AUS, AFG, IND, PAK.

6. (6) WEST INDIES

After starting the tournament looking a dangerous prospect, in losses to England and Bangladesh this week they showed they are a long way off the pace.

LAST FIVE: PAK (W), AUS (L), SA (NR), ENG (L), BANG (L).

REMAINING FIXTURES: NZ, IND, SL, AFG.

7. (8) SOUTH AFRICA

Three point from a possible twelve means all the Proteas can realistically hope for is to ruin a rivals World Cup prospects now that their own are nothing more than a faded memory.

LAST FIVE: BANG (L), IND (L), WI (NR), AFG (W), NZ (L).

REMAINING FIXTURES: PAK, SL, AUS.

8. (7) PAKISTAN

Did this team really beat England?.

LAST FIVE: WI (L), ENG (W), SL (NR), AUS (L), IND (L).

REMAINING FIXTURES: SA, NZ, AFG, BANG.

9. (9) SRI LANKA

Their position on the table is not to be believed, this team is no chance of challenging for a Semi Finals berth .

LAST FIVE: NZ (L), AFG (W), PAK (NR), BANG (NR), AUS (L).

REMAINING FIXTURES: ENG, SA, WI, IND.

10. (9) AFGHANISTAN

They will rue the missed opportunity against Sri Lanka because they look close to zero chance of finding themselves in a winning position again before they board their plane home.

LAST FIVE: AUS (L), SL (L), NZ (L), SA (L), ENG (L).

REMAINING FIXTURES: IND, BAN, PAK, WI.
