CWC19 – Power Rankings after Week Two

Bozza crunches the numbers and adjusts the World Cup Power Rankings after Week Two.

1. (2) ENGLAND

Back where they belong after beating Bangladesh and Australia slip up against India.

LAST FIVE: PAK (W), PAK (W), SA (W), PAK (L), BANG (W).

NEXT FIVE: WI, AFG, SL, AUS, IND.

2. (3) INDIA

They may have been the last team to get their competition underway but have been ultra impressive ever since.

LAST FIVE: AUS (L), AUS (L), AUS (L), SA (W), AUS (W).

NEXT FIVE: NZ, PAK, AFG, WI, ENG.

3. (4) NEW ZEALAND

An undefeated start to the tournament sees the Black Caps on top of the World Cup standings and perhaps a little unlucky to be just third in our Power Rankings.

LAST FIVE: BANG (W), BANG (W), SL (W), BANG (W) AFG (W).

NEXT FIVE: IND, SA, WI, PAK, AUS .

4. (1) AUSTRALIA

No shame in their defeat to India but it has seen them surrender top place in our Power Rankings.

LAST FIVE: PAK (W), AFG (W), WI (W), IND (L), PAK (W).

NEXT FIVE: SL, BANG, ENG, NZ, SA.

5. (6) BANGLADESH

The rain may cost Bangladesh more than anybody else with it having prevented them from a shot at victory against Sri Lanka.

LAST FIVE: WI (W), SA (W), NZ (L), ENG (L), SL (NR).

NEXT FIVE: WI, AUS, AFG, IND, PAK.

6. (7) WEST INDIES

Another team that rain has hindered with it halting their match against South Africa when they were on top.

LAST FIVE: BANG (L), BANG (L), Pak (W), AUS (L), SA (NR).

NEXT FIVE: ENG, BANG, NZ, IND, SL.

7. (8) PAKISTAN

Their best is electrifying, their worst is bewildering and you can have both in the space of five minutes in the same game as we saw in their loss to Australia.

LAST FIVE: AUS (L), WI (L), ENG (W), SL (NR), AUS (L).

NEXT FIVE: IND, SA, NZ, AFG, BANG.

8. (2) SOUTH AFRICA

One point from a possible eight means all the Proteas can realistically hope for is to ruin a rivals World Cup prospects now that their own are nothing more than a faded memory.

LAST FIVE: SL (W), ENG (L), BANG (L), IND (L), WI (NR).

NEXT FIVE: AFG, NZ, PAK, SL, AUS.

9. (10) SRI LANKA

The one team that has prospered from rain in this tournament, Sri Lanka are within striking distance of a Semi Final berth if they are good enough. The problem is, they aren’t good enough.

LAST FIVE: SCO (W), NZ (L), AFG (W), PAK (NR), BANG (NR).

NEXT FIVE: AUS, ENG, SA, WI, IND.

10. (9) AFGHANISTAN

Without a win from three games, Afghanistan have been a little off the pace but not embarrassed.

LAST FIVE: IRE (L), IRE (W), AUS (L), SL (L), NZ (L).

NEXT FIVE: SA, ENG, IND, BAN, PAK.
