Our man Monkey goes through what there was to Learn, Like and Dislike in Round 22.

Melbourne v Sydney

Learned: The AFL needs the floating fixture for the last three rounds. This game had Sunday twilight written all over it.

Liked: The way Sydney keeps bringing these young kids in, each having an immediate effect.

Dislike: From premiership favourite to almost wooden spooners. What went wrong? Perhaps 2018 was nothing more than an abberation.

Carlton v St Kilda

Learned: Public opinion can sway even the footy boss to sign a coach with training wheels

Liked: Two bottom sides drawing a crowd of 50k plus. Good signs for both clubs

Disliked: Saints inability to bury sides and over use of the ball.

Brisbane v Geelong

Learned: How good is Charlie Cameron?

Liked: Billed as blockbuster and lived up to the hype. The Lions are the real deal.

Disliked: was only 30k to watch it but was a great game

Adelaide vs Collingwood

Learned: Pies are going to be scary when at full strength.

Liked: A remnant of memories of ‘kick a Vic’, South Australian teams on their knees brought a smile to the face.

Disliked: Tex Walker’s form, he should be dropped.

North Melbourne vs Port Adelaide

Learned: Todd Goldstein still has it and North are crazy not to sign him on a two year deal.

Liked: A reminder of the good days when forwards kicked bags.

Disliked: What to make of Port, fantastic one week pathetic the next.

Richmond vs West Coast

Learned: Was this the Grand Final preview?

Disliked: Josh Kennedy. Beats up on lesser team can’t kick goals against decent defenders.

GWS v Western Bulldogs

Learned: Giants Stadium is no fortress for GWS.

Liked: The Dogs are coming and made the Giants look slow

Disliked: The Giants, they look likely to fall a long way short of the multiple flags they were predicted to win.

Hawthorn vs Gold Coast

Learned: Percentage will play a massive role next week when deciding finals positions. You need to bury sides like the suns and not give them easy goals.

Liked: There is still romance in football with Roughead getting a farewell game.

Disliked: The Suns. What more can you say?
