For large parts of our first half against the Saints I was thinking, here we go again. We don’t play Marvel Stadium well as it is, with losses against the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne both evidences of this fact.
The Saints looked quick too, getting more numbers to the ball and putting us under all sorts of pressure. Despite knowing it was always going to take a while for our seven boys back in the team to get going, there was an underestimation of how important this game really was.
Dimma must have felt the same – he must have reminded the lads at half time.
Our second half was great, and the class really came through. We stood up under pressure, conceding just a few goals – felt like 2018 again.

Nothing has really felt like 2017 though. The manic pressure and the stingy defence, not allowing our opponents any sort of ascendency. I can only think of our ANZAC Eve clash against the Dees this season, that could even come close.
But all in all,I think we are perfectly positioned. If I would have given any Tiger fan these injuries, with an 8-6 start, and only Jack and Nank to realistically come back now. Wow. I’d take it.
Those two boys aren’t far away, and with a run home of games that favour us in most, we are looking good for a real tilt at this campaign.
Seven games at the G and a huge clash at Metricon this week, it seems as if things could fall into place for us to turn our season into a successful one. This might not be winning the flag, but I would like another good September showing.
Tom Lynch is hitting form, despite his inaccurate kicking for goal at times. Dion Prestia is class and Dylan Grimes has been severely underrated. And we have the best first year player in the comp – no we didn’t recruit Sam Walsh. Our boy is stacks above the rest.
I’m looking forward to writing about the Tigers in a months time – who knows what we could be saying. Just give us Tiger fans effort, and we know we’ll have something to get excited about.
